Mark Zuckerberg’s company issued a warning to the artist, who has millions of social media followers, over the presence of nude images in photos and videos of his latest work, The David, a female reinterpretation of Michelangelo’s iconic sculpture.

Meta’s algorithm flagged the exposed breasts, resulting in restricted distribution not only of Jago’s content but also of his entire account, which is now invisible to anyone who is not already a follower.

“Censorship in the age of social media. This will be the tenth time something like this has happened,” the artist explained to ANSA.

“Yet the guidelines are clear and allow the publication of artistic nudes.

“This is something I simply cannot understand, especially considering that the final decision rests with a human being, not with artificial intelligence, which simply flags potentially explicit content.

“We’ve written to the company several times, but have never received a response.”
