Michelangelo’s David, a new virtual reality (VR) experience, was presented in Florence Wednesday by Slow Tour Tuscany and Way Experience and will be available to the public starting Thursday, November 6, in the VR space on Via degli Alfani.
Using the app and headphones, visitors will be able to hear Michelangelo’s voice narrating the creation of the work in several languages while, sequence after sequence, they see the statue taking shape from the block of marble.
Michelangelo’s David is the second part of the Masters of the Renaissance project, which already includes the one on Brunelleschi’s Dome and plans for subsequent projects dedicated to the protagonists of the Italian Renaissance.
The aim is to offer an innovative and engaging experience in the world of art and history, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the rich artistic and cultural landscape of the Renaissance and rediscover the Florence of that era, with its atmosphere, colours and historical figures.
Every detail, the promoters explain, is carefully validated by a team of art historians, experts in immersive storytelling and digital narration, curators and selected scientific committees to ensure an authentic, exciting and scientifically rigorous experience.
