Mick Jagger is currently holidaying in Sicily, with the Rolling Stones front man having said that he is taking some needed time off from touring and song writing for the legendary group.

Jagger has been using Instagram as a of personal diary of sorts since 2013, providing fans not only with snippets of the heady glamour of tour life and public appearances, but also more private moments, those away from the spotlight.

It is with his 2.6 million followers on the app that he shared his adventures in the Bel Paese of late.

Appearing photographed with a wicker basket in hand, beaming while picking fresh fruit, and against a sunset over the sea behind the Greek Theatre of the Neapolis Archaeological Park in Syracuse, Jagger certainly seems to have picked the perfect spot for his relaxing hiatus from a tightly packed rock and roll schedule.

Jagger’s love affair with Sicily reportedly began around a year ago, when he and his wife Melanie Hamrick visited a Marzamemi restaurant and left behind an autographed menu. On that same trip the two also visited the Catherdral of Noto, and took a stroll through Syracuse’s historic centre.

Having fallen head over heels for Sicily, Jagger then reportedly purchased a sea-view villa in Portopalo di Capo Passero.

"Relaxation in Italy, after a long time spent writing songs," said the 79-year-old on his Instagram, confirming rumours that there is new music from the Stones on the horizon.
