The association indicated that around 90.7% of travellers would venture to a destination within Italy, while 8.1% would travel abroad.

According to accommodation records, those travelling were expected to spend an average of three nights away from home.

The turnover expected from the extra business on the national holiday was around €1.96 billion, compared to €1.81 billion last year, according to Federalberghi.
