The home side went ahead in the 12th minute when Gennaro Tutino beat his marker to head in Manuel Marras’ cross.
Five minutes before half time saw Modena get level through a fortunate Luca Strizzolo, who was in the right spot to receive a parry from Cosenza keeper Alessandro Micai.
Modena took all three points in the 87th minute through Fabio Abiuso, who also received the ball from Micai punch.
