The home team went ahead in under nine minutes when Andrea Colpani’s relatively tame shot rolled through a sea of and legs into the goal.
Nine minutes later Samuele Vignato made it 2-0 when his shot from a tight angle went through the legs of Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.
Matteo Pessina sealed the win for Monza in the dying stages when he scored a penalty awarded for handball. Pessina’s stuttering runup caused Ochoa to dive too early.
Salernitana are 19th with just three points from their opening eight matches.
