Possession between the two sides was roughly equal, with the visitors creating four shots on goal to Monza’s 16.
Lecce went ahead in under three minutes when Nikola Krstovic converted a penalty awarded for a foul on Pontus Almqvist.
Monza were level 20 minutes later when some intricate passing in the final third was finished off by Andrea Colpani with a low shot into the bottom-right corner.
In the 55th minute, Federico Baschirotto was shown a straight red for his two-footed challenge on Lorenzo Colombo.
Luca Caldirola was shown a second yellow five minutes from full time for bringing down Roberto Piccoli after the striker got around him.
Despite a host of chances, Monza were unable to take all three points from the match.
Lecce are on eight points from their opening four games and currently sit fourth on the table while Monza are in 14th.
