Stats wise, the game was fair even with Monza creating 15 chances to Empoli’s 14.

The home side went close to scoring in the 20th minute, but Roberto Gagliardini’s long-range rocket hit the crossbar.

The breakthrough came just before half time when Andrea Colpani blasted the ball past the keeper from the edge of the box.

Barely seven minutes into the second half and Colpani was at it again, this time heading in Patrick Ciurria’s cross that went in despite Empoli’s Samuele Perisan getting a hand to it.

Empoli need points on the board soon, or things might begin to unravel quickly.
