More than 11 million viewers tune in to Sanremo opening night

The Sanremo Music Festival 2018 got off to an impressive start on Tuesday, with 11.6 million viewers tuning in to RAI to watch the opening night.

The numbers just top last year’s figures, with 11.4 million people watching the first night of the 2017 edition of Sanremo, presented by Carlo Conti and Maria De Filippi.

This year’s festival runs until February 10 and is hosted by popular Italian singer-songwriter, Claudio Baglioni.

Italian actor Pierfrancesco Favino and model and media personality Michelle Hunziker are co-hosting the event.

Special guests of this edition include Italian musicians Biagio Antonacci, Gianna Nannini and Laura Pausini, along with international acts such as Shaggy and Sting.
