At dawn on Wednesday, a mural of a woman with bent open prison bars on the grill of her burqa appeared outside the Iranian embassy in Rome.

The work is the latest from street artist Harry Greb, whose oeuvre is largely political.

Recent works featured on Greb’s Instagram profile include a rendition of new Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni as the wicked witch from Disney’s Snow White, as well as Vladimir Putin drawing missiles over a peace symbol with a marker.

The latestpiece also shows a white dove containing a portrait of Masha Amini, the 22-year-old woman arrested and beaten by Iran's morality police for apparently incorrectly wearing her veil on September 13, and who died of her injuries two days later, sparking a still-ongoing wave of protests by Iranian women against the autocratic Islamic regime.

Scores of people have died amid crackdowns on the protests.
