The 22-year-old right-back has joined Cremonese on loan from Lazio with an option for a permanent move after playing in Serie B with Juve Stabia last season, also on loan.
“I’m here to play football,” he told reporters.
“My surname bothers other people more than me.
“I’m happy to be here, I accepted immediately when the green light was given.
“My surname has never caused me any problems and, from my point of view, the less said about it, the better.
“I’m here to express myself on the pitch, nothing else.”
Mussolini said the controversy sparked by some Juve Stabia fans doing fascist salutes after he scored a goal for their side last season was “pointless”.
“I mainly talk about football when I speak to my family, especially with my father,” he said.
“Now my mother is getting into it too.
“But I’d like people to talk about me only for how I play. I want to show what I can do and prove my value.”
