Scott McTominay scored twice to lead Napoli to a 3-0 win over Empoli which closed the gap behind Serie A leaders Inter Milan to three points.

Inter had increased their advantage with a 3-1 win over Cagliari on Saturday to turn up the pressure on Antonio Conte’s men, but they responded with aplomb.

McTominay opened the scoring after 18 minutes before Romelu Lukaku doubled Napoli’s lead 11 minutes into the second period.

Scotland international McTominay rounded off the scoring with his ninth goal for the club since his summer switch from Manchester United.
