Let’s start with the non-transfer of Victor Osimhen. Despite much media speculation, the Nigerian is staying at Napoli, which is a huge boost for their chances of a title defence.
There’s been one big loss for the champs, and that is the defensive might of Korean Min-Jae Kim. Napoli would be disappointed to see him leave after just one season, but looked to have replaced him with Brazilian defender, Natan.
They’ve also completed the permanent transfers of last year’s loanees, Giacomo Raspadori and Giovanni Simeone.
The champs have also signed Sweden international Jens Cajuste from Reims for 12 million euros.
Il Globo verdict: Back-to-back Serie A titles is not easy, but Napoli were so far ahead of the competition last season, they cannot be anything other than strong favourites. This year, however, they’ll want to go even further in the Champions League, and they have every chance of doing it.
Prediction: 1st-2nd and Champions League quarters, minimum.
