The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi at the prefecture of the southern port city with top local officials including Mayor Gaetano Manfredi.

As part of the plan, Piantedosi ordered a tightening of security measures around nightlife spots that attract youths and an installation of additional video surveillance cameras within months.

The measure follows the murder of Arcangelo Correra, 18, who was allegedly shot dead on Saturday by his teen cousin.

Overall, three teens have been killed in the area of greater metropolitan Naples in just over two weeks.

Before Correra, Emanuele Tufano, 15, was shot dead in downtown Naples in the night between October 23 and 24 in a gunfight between teen gangs.

On November 2, 19-year-old Santo Romano was allegedly shot dead by a 17-year-old who confessed to investigators that he had murdered Romano because he had “dirtied” his designer shoes.
