European Affairs Minister Raffaele Fitto said the NRRP would likely not be wholly implemented by its 2026 deadline.
The NRRP has a nest-egg of 200 billion euros in funds to help drive the Italian economy to be 'Greener' and more modern, on condition that reform milestones and targets are met.
Italy is seeking to revise the plan to take into consideration the Ukraine war and the cost of living crisis, among other things.
European Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni said at the weekend the EU was open to tweaking the plan and that several other countries had suffered delays, too.
"I'm not worried about the delays to the NRRP, we are working hard, I am not very convinced by the alarmist reconstruction (of events)", Meloni said on Monday on the sidelines of Vinitaly, the international wine competition and exposition held annually in Verona..
"I am not considering losing resources, I am considering landing them effectively," she said in reference to the controversy of the last few days, where opposition parties have said that Italy risks missing out on much of the 200 billion euros of grants and low-interest loans.
