ISTAT said Tuesday that 23.15 million people were employed in Italy in the second quarter of 2022, a rise of 175,000 (+0.8 per cent) with respect to the previous quarter, and of 677,000 (+3 per cent) compared to the same period last year.
The national statistics agency said the employment rate among people aged 15-64 years increased by 0.5 points in the second quarter, compared to the previous three months, going up to 60.2 per cent.
It said the unemployment rate fell by 0.4 of a point on the first quarter to 8.1 per cent, with the jobless total dropping to 2.025 million.
