The much-loved annual music event attracted an average of 13.427 million viewers to State broadcaster Rai’s Rai1 channel on the final night, 73.1 per cent of the overall audience share.
The show, presented by artistic director Carlo Conti, was a hit with the public on the previous four nights too.
Long-standing Rai executive Giancarlo Leone said on X on Sunday that the festival attracted an average of 12.5 million viewers each night, 67.1 per cent of the audience share.
He said that was the highest number of viewers in absolute terms since 2000 and the highest audience share ever.
The percentage of the audience share on the final night peaked at 87.3 per cent at 1:56 on Sunday when Olly’s triumph was announced.
The 23-year-old claimed victory over several more established stars, including Giorgia and Achille Lauro.
As a result, there were some boos in Sanremo’s Ariston theatre when their positions were announced along with much criticism on social media.
