The away side enjoyed 64 per cent possession and created 12 chances on goal compared to Reggina’s five, however only three of them were on target.

Reggina had a good chance early through Pierozzi who was one-on-one with the keeper, however the midfielder’s shot went straight into the face of a dazed Joronen.

The game’s lone goal came in the tenth minute when an unsuspecting Ceppitelli didn’t react to a cross by Liotti.

The ball ricocheted into his leg and went in, leaving Joronen furious.

Venezia almost equalised soon after through Ellertsson, but his shot went just wide.

The away side thought they had equalised, but Pohjanpalo’s goal was scrubbed off for offside by VAR.

Despite their dominance, Venezia were unable to score against Pippo Inzaghi’s men, and remain dangerously close to the drop zone.
