Palermo end Sampdoria’s season

Palermo have kept their promotion dream alive after destroying Sampdoria’s, beating Andrea Pirlo’s side 2-0 in the promotion playoffs thanks to a Salim Diakite brace.

The visitors had the lion’s share of possession and managed to create nine chances to Palermo’s 11.

Palermo took the lead two minutes before half time when Jacopo Segre’s low cross through a busy area somehow found Diakite who blasted home with a volley.

Two minutes after the break saw Diakite at it again, this time side footing in Kristoffer Lund’s cross from close range.

Palermo now face Venezia over two legs. The first leg kicks off on Tuesday morning (AEST), live on Il Globo TV.
