In a relatively even game, the difference was a clinical four-goal second half by the home side.

However, it was Modena who went in front in just the fourth minute thanks to a lovely Luca Strizzolo chip over the keeper, after he was put through on goal by Luca Tremolada.

Palermo peppered the Modena goal and finally drew level 21 minutes later.

Gennaro Tutino’s strike from outside the box was hit hard and low, and could not be saved by Ricardo Gagno.

Strizzolo and Tremolada combined again, with the former heading home a cross by the latter from close range in the 30th minute.

Modena went into halftime 2-1 up, but Palermo came out firing.

Just two minutes after the break, Edoardo Soleri headed in a back-post cross by Nicolo Valente.

Nine minutes after that, Valente was the provider again, this time for Valerio Verre who capitalised on some poor communication between Modena’s defender and goalkeeper, with neither wanting to claim what was really a poor ball.

Tutino, who scored earlier, turned provider for Giuseppe Aurelio with a looping cross that was headed in.

Palermo’s fifth and final goal was a penalty scored by Luca Vido that was awarded thanks to a poorly timed sliding challenge in the box.

Palermo moves into the promotion play-off zone while Modena remain mid-table.
