Milan started on the front foot as expected, pressing for early control in the game and probing Parma’s organised back line.

Despite dominating possession and creating several openings, the hosts struggled to turn territory into clear-cut chances. Parma defended resolutely and looked dangerous on quick transitions, frustrating the Rossoneri attack throughout the first half.

The contest took a worrying turn early on when Ruben Loftus-Cheek was forced off on a stretcher following a heavy collision with Parma goalkeeper Edoardo Corvi. The English midfielder suffered a serious facial injury and was taken to hospital, which halted play and overshadowed the early proceedings.

As the match wore on, Milan continued to press without finding the breakthrough, and Parma gradually grew in confidence.

The decisive moment came in the 80th minute, when Mariano Troilo rose highest from a corner to head Parma into the lead. After a brief VAR check for offside, the goal was confirmed.

Milan pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages, with efforts from Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leão testing Parma’s defence, but the visitors held firm.

For Milan, the defeat is a significant setback in the title race and highlights the fine margins of Serie A’s top end.
