“Sex is one of the beautiful things that God has given to human beings,” the Pope is reported as saying during the documentary Amen.
“Sexual expression is a richness, so anything that belittles true sexual expression also belittles you, and impoverishes this richness in you,” he reportedly continued in reference to masturbation.
“The expression of love is probably the central point of sexual activity.
“Everything that cuts you off from this diminishes your sexual activity.”
The wide-ranging conversation also reportedly touches on pornography.
"Being addicted to pornography is like being addicted to a drug that keeps a person at a level that does not allow them to grow," the pope is reported as saying to a young woman who allegedly sells pornography online.
The pope was also asked about the relationship between the church and the LGBT community, and whether there was space for sexual diversity within the church.
“Every person is a child of God,” responded Pope Francis.
“Every Person. God refuses no one.
“And I don’t have the right to drive anyone from the church.
“Not only that, my duty to welcome people, always.”
“The church cannot close the door to anyone,” he reiterated.
“No one”.
