Pope Francis on Monday said he was writing a long-awaited follow-up to his 2015 second encyclical, Laudato si' (Praise Be to You), on care for our common home Earth and action against the climate crisis.

In Laudato si', the pope critiques consumerism and irresponsible development, laments environmental degradation and global warming, and calls all people of the world to take “swift and unified global action.”
On Monday Francis said, “I am writing a second part of Laudato si' to update the current problems”.
He was speaking to a delegation of lawyers from Council of Europe member states signatories of the Vienna Appeal in audience at the Vatican Monday morning.
