The find includes footprints of amphibians and reptiles, but also plants, seeds, skin prints and even raindrops.
Brought to light by the melting of snow and ice caused by climate change, the ecosystem preserves traces of life dating back 280 million years.
The first finds were recovered a few days ago at 3000 meters above sea level with a spectacular operation supported by a helicopter.
They were shown for the first time Wednesday at the Natural History Museum in Milan.
