For the opening, the theatre showed the film Experience Australia, in a multisensory experience.
The film was produced by Peerson Communications – owned by Rosario Scarpato and Vince Basile – with funding by construction company Grollo Australia and the Australian Scholarships Group.
Made for students and tourists, the 50-minute film gives a summary of Australia’s history, economy, social and cultural development, and natural wonders.
While audience members watch the “multivision” film, they are struck with sensory experiences such music, narration, and the smells of Australia: a eucalyptus tree, a bushfire, gunpowder, wool and the ocean breeze.
The spectacular multisensory experience begins with the Dreamtime of the Aboriginals, followed by the arrival of British convicts, the gold rush, the development of the nation’s agricultural industry, the discovery of its natural beauty and resources, the nation’s participation in two World Wars, and its great sporting achievements.
