“During the first six months of 2024, 43.8 per cent of energy demand was covered by renewable sources: a historic record on a half-year basis,” Terna said.
The figure was far larger than the 34.9 per cent for the first six months of 2023.
Terna said production from renewable sources was up by 27.3 per cent compared to the first half of 2023, while production from fossil fuels decreased 19 per cent.
“Over the period under consideration, the operating capacity of renewables increased by 3691 MW,” Terna said.
The figure includes 3341 MW in solar power.
“This value is 1074 MW higher (+41 per cent) than the same period of the previous year.”
