Roma had slightly more of the ball and created 14 chances to the visitors’ eight.
After a scoreless first half, things were looking shaky for the home team when Leandro Paredes was sent off in the 72nd minute after two yellow cards handed out just seconds apart for dissent towards the referee.
Roma’s goal did eventually come however, when Romelu Lukaku headed in Stephen El Shaarawy’s cross in the 79th minute.
The lone goal was enough for Roma, who go away to Empoli for the final round. Empoli will be playing for their survival, and will be encouraged by the fact that Roma cannot finish in any position other than the one they currently occupy thanks to head-to-head rules.
