In a match that Roma needed after a disappointing defeat to Atalanta earlier in the week, the visitors took control early and never looked back.

Roma drew first blood in the 14th minute. Paulo Dybala slipped a precise pass into space for Evan Ferguson just inside the area, and the Irish striker took one touch before drilling a low shot into the far corner to put the Giallorossi ahead. It was a polished move and came against the run of play as Lecce sought to set the tone on their home turf.

Lecce had their best opportunity to respond early in the second half when Santiago Pierotti was played through on goal, but the chance was squandered as his close-range effort went well wide—a miss that proved costly for the hosts.

Roma sealed the victory in the 71st minute. Substitute Artem Dovbyk, introduced for Ferguson on the hour, was alert in the box following a corner. A headed clearance dropped to Niccolò Pisilli, whose attempt was diverted on target by Dovbyk, giving Roma a comfortable two-goal cushion.

From there, Roma controlled the remainder of the match, seeing out the win with organised defending and experience in midfield, while Lecce struggled to fashion clear chances against a disciplined visiting side.

The result lifts Roma back into the top five of the Serie A table on 36 points, just three behind leaders Inter who have two games in hand. It might also provide some momentum as they look ahead to a busy January schedule.

Lecce remain in the lower reaches of the standings, though their effort showed promise at times even if the finishing touch was absent.
