Rome Film Festival organisers delivered a surprise on Friday when they announced Italian comedian and director, Roberto Benigni as one of 32 star guests to feature at the 11th edition of the event.
This year's festival is to be held on October 13-23 at the city's Auditorium Parco della Musica complex.
"Benigni will tell us about how he fell in love with cinema and of his encounters, like those with Massimo Troisi and Walter Matthau," festival director Antonio Monda said.
Fifteen of the star guests will feature in the festival's 'Close Encounters' series with the public, including Meryl Streep, Oliver Stone, David Mamet and Bernardo Bertolucci.
