Ruby chocolate makes its way to Italy with Baci Perugina

Nestlé Italiana has used ruby chocolate to create a new limited edition Baci Perugina which will be coated in the recently-invented pink chocolate.

Filled with crispy hazelnut and soft gianduia, the chocolate “kisses” are famous for their love notes and already exist in three flavours: milk, white and dark chocolate.

The new sweet will be made with chocolate derived from ruby cocoa beans, which has an intense berry-fruitiness taste without the addition of any flavour or colour.

“Although it is almost 100 years old, Baci Perugina continues to innovate,” Nestlé said in a statement.

Ruby chocolate was created by Swiss chocolatier Barry Callebaut, who dedicated more than a decade to developing its unique flavour.

Nestlé was the first to launch this fourth type of chocolate - after dark, milk and white - to consumers worldwide through KitKat.

The limited edition Baci Perugina will be available in both a 150g box and a three-piece tube.
