The 81-year-old woman was a passenger on the ill-fated cruise ship, which docked in Sydney on March 19 and has been linked to 22 deaths and hundreds of confirmed cases.

The fatality brings the NSW death toll to 47 and the national toll to 98.

NSW recorded six new cases of coronavirus overnight, from more than 8100 tests conducted on Tuesday.

A nurse at the Newmarch House and two “close contact” infections linked to the embattled western Sydney aged care facility are among the new cases.

Health authorities are trying to track the source of the remaining three cases.

The new cases take the total number of cases in NSW to 3059, with 2571 recovered from the virus.

It comes a day after NSW recorded zero new cases of the virus for the first time since mid-February.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said more cases are likely to be confirmed across the state as some restrictions are set to be eased on Friday.

“From Friday, we will analyse the data closely because we appreciate once you ease any restrictions there is more activity, there is more chance of people getting the virus, or passing it on to others,” she said.

The premier said the “next 10 days are quite critical” in determining how much the state can reopen.

“Obviously schools will be back this week and next week and that'll be inputted into the data into the modelling,” she said.

“So, the next 10 days for us are quite critical and we will be looking at what the data is telling us about activity.”

From Friday, five people will be allowed to visit a household and outdoor gatherings of 10 will be permitted.

Cafes and restaurants will also be allowed to reopen for service, although subject to a 10-patron limit.

The Premier said she had already started discussions with the pubs and clubs industry, after other states included pubs with cafes and restaurants in their first stage of reopening, but she was hesitant to make any announcements.

“As Dr McAnulty explained yesterday ... the current view is sitting down for a meal is different to having a drink [at a pub],” she said.
