Eni said Wednesday that supplies of gas to Italy from Russia have resumed after four days.
Gazprom shut off gas supplies to Italy via the Trans Austria Gas Pipeline to Tarvisio on Saturday, citing a problem linked to regulatory changes in Austria.
“Eni would like to inform that gas flows supplied by Gazprom through Austria have resumed today,” the Italian energy giant said in a statement.
“The resumption of supplies was made possible by the resolution, by Eni and the parties involved, of the constraints deriving from the new legislation introduced by the Austrian regulatory authorities.”
The Italian government has been working hard to diversify Italy’s gas supplies following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, but it is still some way from being freed of its long-standing reliance on Russian gas.
