The home team had 55 per cent of the ball and created ten chances to Pisa’s eight.
The opening goal came from an absolute shocker from Sampdoria’s goalkeeper, Filip Stankovic, whose terrible pass was intercepted by a grateful Matteo Tramoni before running in on goal and slotting it into the bottom-right post.
Alessandro Arena made it 2-0 in the 59th minute after taking on a defender and smashing the ball past a diving Stankovic who got a hand to it but couldn’t keep it out.
The loss leaves Andrea Pirlo’s side with just one point from their opening two matches.
