It was a festive gathering that united three generations, once again confirming the central role of this energetic Sicilian association in the community life of Victoria.

The afternoon was filled with activities designed especially for the little ones, thanks to carefully planned entertainment organised by the association.

Adding extra flavour to the day were freshly made ricotta arancini, prepared by the committee—a detail far from marginal.

“It’s a way to pass the torch to the new generations and involve younger families,” the organisers explained.

Judging by the strong presence of children and grandchildren of the club’s earliest members, the goal seems to have been fully achieved.

The generational handover remains a challenge for many associations in Victoria, but the Licodia Eubea Social Club appears to be on the right path, thanks to a program intentionally created to attract younger members.

“We already have three or four children’s events planned for next year,” said club president Domenic Ballirò, expressing both optimism and determination.

One of the most eagerly awaited moments was the arrival of the guest of honour: Santa Claus. No sleigh or reindeer this time, but a spectacular entrance aboard a gleaming Harley Davidson—a sign of changing times and a touch of humour that delighted both young and old.

“When Santa Claus arrived, everyone cheered,” Ballirò recounted.

The future of the club is also being strengthened by the creation of a new “mothers’ group”, a committee of four dedicated women (Joanna Cerra, Louisa Ballirò, Barbara Ballirò and Margaret Ballirò) who will oversee all events for children under twelve.

Among the upcoming initiatives is the introduction of a superhero mascot ready to entertain the club’s youngest members. This adds to the club’s already active sports programs, including a golf club and a soccer club—further tools to engage younger generations.

The afternoon ended with a much-loved tradition: a special gift for all children who had behaved well throughout the year.

With this cheerful event, the association wrapped up its penultimate gathering for 2025 ahead of the unmissable Christmas lunch that will officially close a calendar full of activities and new hopes.
