Santanche, 61, is scheduled to address the Senate at 3pm next Wednesday, July 5, to address claims by investigative TV show Report, that she had run businesses that allegedly failed to pay suppliers and allegedly dismissed workers without giving them redundancy payments that were due to them.

Santanché on Monday brushed off suggestions that she should resign in relation to the claims.

“Resign? Over what? Be serious. Are we chasing after Report?” Santanch said, adding she may sue the program.

“I will answer everything,” the minister, a senior member of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s rightwing Brothers of Italy (FdI) party, continued.

The case has roiled the government.

The PD motion specifically named Visibilia Editore, a holding company that Santanché used to run other firms and in which she had a controlling 48.6 per cent stake.
