The initiative is one of a number of activities planned by the second division for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25, which comes amid growing concerns about gender-based violence in Italy, including femicide.

Before all matches there will also be a symbolic handover of the red ball by a representative of the home club to a woman invited for the occasion.

The initiatives are part of a campaign against violence against women launched by Serie B at the start of the 2023/2024 football season in collaboration with the Department of Public Security’s interagency Criminal Analysis Service.
