A 20-year-old Italian man who lost a leg after a shark attack in Australia early last month returned to Italy on Wednesday for further treatment.

Matteo Mariotti, who was attacked while swimming off the Gold Coast, was admitted to the Rizzoli orthopedic institute in Bologna where he will continue his treatment and rehabilitation.
He has already had three procedures in Australia.
“I’ve lost a leg but at least I’m alive,” he said after the December 9 incident.
