Hailing from the Sicilian town of Cassaro, the brothers came together at Salvatore’s house in Reading, in the US.
Salvatore, 72, and Carlo, 76, migrated to the US in the early 1900s in search of a better life.
The youngest of the brothers, 60-year-old Giuseppe, has lived in Melbourne since 1949.
After five decades of not seeing his older brothers, he decided to travel to the US to spend the Christmas holidays with them.
Despite many years of distance, the brothers recognised each other immediately at the airport.
In a moving gesture, Salvatore’s wife Elisabetta waited for Giuseppe to arrive before decorating the Christmas tree.
The brothers said it was the best Christmas they had ever celebrated.
While in the US, Giuseppe will visit New York and Washington.
Before returning to Melbourne, he will also spend some time in Italy.
