Six young Sicilian women participated in the Miss Sicilia competition.
The participants were Maria Casella, Carmelina Vitale, Rosalba Brillo, Tina Maugeri, Adriana Fiamingo and Laura Bruno.
First prize was a bus ticket to Surfers Paradise, courtesy of Marconi Travel in collaboration with Bus Australia Tours.
It was awarded to Maria Casella.
The newly-crowned queen will also participate in the final for the Miss Marconi competition, alongside other regional winners.
Club Marconi president, Tony Labbozetta, welcomed those present, in particular the guests of honour, who included: the Curraos, owners of Angel Real Estate; the Furiglos; Alfredo Migliucci from Alitalia; Angela Biviano, who won Miss Sicilia 1989; D. Labbozzetta, owner of Club Marconi; and the members of the managing committee and women’s committee at Club Marconi.
The evening featured music by Jay and Giselle Pirelli, and Gabriele Giannetta.
Enzo Giribaldi’s band also played, while Joe Morizzi was MC.
In the raffle, first prize was won by ticket 01696, held by Domenico Salvatore.
The prize was a return ticket to Italy courtesy of Alitalia.
Second prize was a voucher worth $150 for Morvillo Jewellery, won by Ninette Mammone with ticket 01394.
Third prize went to Tony Lucci with ticket 01345 and fourth to A.Senzamici with ticket 00720.
