The 22-year-old Italian tennis player had problems with his right hip during his quarter-final defeat by Andrey Rublev in Montreal Saturday.
“I feel fine, and I can’t wait to return to the court”, said the athlete who is also gearing up for the US Open which begins on August 26.
Sinner was the protagonist of the first half of the tennis season, winning his first slam at the Australian Open and climbing to the top spot of the PIF ATP rankings for the first time.
One of his main objectives for the upcoming season was succeeding at the Paris Olympics, but he had to pull out at the last minute because he had tonsillitis.
“This year, given I was playing well, including in Paris at Roland Garros, and knowing the Olympics were there … I saw the possibility of a medal,” said Sinner.
“But sometimes you need to accept things,” he added, noting that he “must be happy” for what he has achieved “without looking at the negatives”.
“I think my season is going in a very, very positive way and we are continuing to build on this,” he concluded.
