Skater Arianna Fontana wins Italy’s first gold at 2022 Winter Olympics

It comes after she helped Italy to win silver in the mixed team relay.

Fontana, 31, is the most decorated short tracker in women’s or men’s events.

With her 10^th Olympic medal, Fontana now matches the record of cross-country skier Stefania Belmondo as Italy’s most decorated Olympian.

Fontana won gold in the same event in PyeongChang four years ago.

Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) President Giovanni Malagò praised Fontana for her achievement.

“Arianna you have gone down in history,” he said.

“And, as you’re well aware, it’s not over yet.”
