The highly anticipated event was sold out in just weeks and will be attended by members of all parts of the Italian community, from event sponsors to authorities.
The evening will promote the very best of contemporary Italy, much like the festival itself.
Featuring special guests, culinary delights and entertainment, the launch will also spark discussion surrounding potential sponsorships and the next steps for the new festival, which will take place in 2020.
The new festival is under the patronage of the Consulate of Italy in Adelaide.
President of the new committee, Ben Rillo, said he was eager to relaunch the festival at the end of next year “with the aim of reuniting the entire community and sharing our culture with the rest of the state”.
“The Adelaide Italian Festival will have a new brand, format and structure and will be inaugurated with celebrations aimed at the whole community,” he added.
“The first Adelaide Italian Festival took place over 40 years ago.
“Still today, our community remains one of the most prominent cultural groups in the nation – something we should be proud of!”
On Saturday, November 16, the committee will host a mass at St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral in honour of the history and legacy of Italian migrants in South Australia, and their dreams, courage and achievements.
Participants will reflect on the journey of faith of these migrants as they built a new life in a new country.
The mass will also pay tribute to Saint Francis Xavier Cabrini, patron saint of immigrants.
The Vocali Chamber Chorale and the Italian Choral and Arts Society will join in the celebrations.
The mass will be followed by a gathering with food, wine and music.
