A win would have put Venezia on level points with Como, however with a superior head-to-head, Venezia would have finished second.

The visitors took the lead early as Jay Izdes’ strong header from a corner left the keeper with little chance.

Francesco Esposito equalised for the home side in the 56th minute with a rocket of a half volley from just inside the box.

Five minutes later, Spezia took the lead when Arkadiusz Reca slide in to finish of a cross from Salvatore Elia from close range.

The win means Spezia avoid the dreaded relegation playoffs, while Venezia will play in the promotion playoffs for a place in next season’s Serie A.
