Most were young families from migrant backgrounds, originally from various European and Asian countries—a true microcosm of Australia’s diverse population.

Everyone was there to applaud their children as they performed Christmas carols.

Officially opening the celebrations with a prayer was Father Anil Roshan Mascarenhas, whose warm welcome set the tone for a joyful and heartfelt evening.

From humble beginnings, when the school opened in 1971 with just 66 students under the leadership of Sister Conrad Hannischefegen of the Sisters of Charity, it has grown to more than 560 pupils.

“With its 22 learning areas, a well-stocked library, a large hall for gatherings, two spaces for physical activities, a basketball court, netball rings and a tuckshop, as well as before and after-school care facilities and a brand-new administrative building, our school represents a welcoming place for families and students,” said Peter Boudville, leader of the Parish Pastoral Council.

‘[We have] a vibrant community that motivates pupils and actively involves parents. With empathy and hope, we strive to make a difference in a constantly changing world.”

The evening, dedicated to Christmas, was brought to life by dozens of stalls selling food, drinks and gift items, welcoming large numbers of families and parishioners.
