“Explore our school, meet our teachers and step into a bilingual classroom,” the IBS said in an online statement.
The school is an inclusive, co-educational and secular primary school that caters for children from Prep to Year 6 and delivers the NSW curriculum in two languages.
The first session runs from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, and the second session is from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
Since its foundation in 2002, the IBS has grown from eight students and a few classes held at the public school in Five Dock, to 140 students counted in 2018 at the new facilities in Meadowbank.
“The IBS promotes bilingualism and excellence in a creative and collaborative school’s milieu,” principal, Silvia Onorati, said.
“IBS inspires passion for lifelong learning and equips all students with the skills and experience to become active, bilingual, informed and engaged global citizens.”
With an emphasis on diversity, students study at the school in both Italian and English and hail from diverse communities including Italian, Spanish and Australian backgrounds, as well as various Asian cultures.
In a multicultural society like Australia, Onorati believes it is important for young children to learn about eliminating racial discrimination.
“What we really teach is that diversity is richness,” she said.
