SPAL created 13 opportunities, however only two were on target.

Sudtirol opened the scoring thanks to centre back Giovanni Zaro who, despite trying to get out of the way, was hit by Filippo De Col’s shot as the deflection wrongfooted the goalkeeper.

The home team came agonisingly close to scoring their second after the break when Matteo Rover’s shot hit the post and fell into the path of Daniele Casiraghi, whose follow-up shot was met with a miraculous save by Enrico Alfonso.

The points were sealed in the 74th minute when Rover’s looping back-post cross was met by the head of Zaro who bagged his brace.

Sudtirol are third, five points behind the automatic promotion zone, while SPAL are five points from safety.
