Ten arrests since start of east border controls - Piantedosi
Some ten arrests have been made since Italy started border controls against illegal immigration on its eastern frontiers with Croatia and Slovenia 10 days ago, Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said Thursday.

“We checked about 19,000 people, 10,000 vehicles, 300 foreign nationals and arrested about ten people for the crime of aiding and abetting illegal immigration,” he said.
“Another 35 people were cited for various offences.”
Piantedosi was speaking at a press conference at the end of a trilateral meeting with his counterparts from Croatia and Slovenia.
