Early on, Ternana’s Antonio Palumbo got on the end of a cross from Anthony Partipilo but was unable to keep his shot on target.
A corner from the home side seemed to miss everyone as it curled in, but fortunately for Sudtirol, Poluzzi was there to make the save.
Three minutes before the break the visitors went ahead thanks to a perfectly struck volley by Marco Curto from outside the box that went into the top-left corner.
Both sides had chances in the second half but the score would remain the same.
