Located just a few hours from Sydney, the region has long been a popular destination for both locals and tourists thanks to its vineyards, historic wineries and landscapes of rolling hills and open green spaces.

The group set off in the early afternoon towards the vineyards. During the day they visited several wineries in the Hunter Valley, taking the opportunity to learn more about the region’s long-standing winemaking tradition.

Among the local wineries is Pangallo Estate, a family-run property in Richmond Vale. This was the group’s first stop, where participants sampled red and white wines served with bruschetta and antipasti in a relaxed setting.

The tasting offered the chance to appreciate some of the area’s typical wine varieties while enjoying time together in the quiet of the countryside.

Between stops there was plenty of time to relax, chat with friends and take in the scenery.

As often happens during the group’s outings, there was also music and entertainment. Songs, laughter and good spirits carried the afternoon along in an informal and festive atmosphere.

These activities are coordinated by Rosa Cuciniello, who for more than ten years has organised the group’s events and encouraged opportunities for members to spend time together.

“We always enjoy spending time with friends—we’re a close-knit group,” she said.

For many participants, the value of these outings lies not only in the destination, but in the chance to spend time together and strengthen the friendships formed over the years.

Cuciniello admits organising the trips involves a great deal of work and can sometimes be tiring, but it’s all worth it.

“It makes me especially happy when people want to take part and ask me, ‘When’s the next one?’” she said.

“I don’t want to disappoint them. It’s a very active group that enjoys going out and being together. They’re the ones who give me the energy to keep going, and when I see them happy, it fills my heart with joy.”

Another trip, another chance to spend a day enjoying nature, good wine, good food and good company. In the end, it’s the friendships that give these experiences their true meaning.
