“We could have accommodated another 50 people, but we chose not to, so as not to cause inconvenience to anyone,” said President Maria Camiolo, visibly tired yet deeply satisfied, standing in the large hall elegantly decorated in gold and black for the special occasion.
“In recent months,” Camiolo added, “at every celebration, whether afternoon or evening, we’ve managed to do better each time, exceeding expectations and setting new attendance records.
“It’s almost astonishing to think that just two years ago our club had been physically devastated and was financially on its knees.
“Finally, thanks to the extraordinary support of our members, and also the unexpected help of supporters and friends, we’re managing to climb back up, step by step, to fill the void that had opened up.”
The New Year’s Eve celebration marked yet another step forward and a new attendance record for the large Italian club based in Keilor East, with not only Italian guests but also more than a hundred loyal supporters of Maltese and other backgrounds.
For the occasion, the hall was set up with great professionalism by the dynamic executive committee (with the valuable contribution of Immacolata Africano, Rita Piccioli, Elvira Calapati and other members).
As soon as guests had taken their seats and the Emeralds trio had settled on stage to begin the evening’s entertainment, Camiolo welcomed those present.
“I would like to warmly welcome you all and thank you for being part of this wonderful evening, which marks the end of 2025 and allows us to welcome the birth of 2026,” she said.
“I wish to thank each and every one of you for your continued support of our club, which has continued to grow and to rediscover a sense of calm during this challenging year that is coming to an end.
“It’s always a pleasure to see such a full hall. A heartfelt thank you also goes to the entire committee, our supporting members and volunteers. The new year about to begin is like a blank page, offering new goals to pursue and the opportunity to keep improving.
“We need cooperation, respect and friendship, both on a personal and professional level. I conclude by wishing you all a 2026 filled with peace, serenity and good health.”
Throughout the evening, at regular intervals between melodic moments and lively dance segments from the Emeralds trio’s extensive repertoire, guests were served a delicious five-course celebratory dinner.
Speaking at her table, Camiolo said, “We are truly delighted and satisfied with everything we have managed to plan over the course of this year to lift our club in such an extraordinary way from the condition it had been reduced to.”
“Little by little, we’re achieving many of the goals we set ourselves,” she continued.
“These projects are the result of excellent collaboration, shared experiences and new initiatives that we are testing and nurturing day by day.
“There have been many intense days of work, commitments and activities that have helped us grow together, but above all there have been many beautiful occasions and unexpected moments of joy, laughter, smiles and new, warm friendships that have made our group unique and united.
“A sincere and heartfelt thank you goes to all those who continue to support us by dedicating their time and energy.”
